Membership of the Chopin Foundation of the United States is administered by the Foundation’s Regional Councils. The Regional Councils are branches of the Chopin Foundation of the United States and operate under the Foundation’s charter, By-Laws and IRS Tax exemption number. Their purpose is to carry out the Foundation’s objectives at the regional levels. The Councils are valuable components of the Foundation and help carry out its mission of supporting young pianists and contributing culturally to the communities they serve.

The San Francisco Council was organized in 1987. In 1995 the Council introduced the Chopin Competition for Young Pianists, which provides for young piano students an encouragement for following their artistic careers.

To join Chopin Membership in the San Francisco area and to learn more about the Council’s activities please go to their web site www.chopinSF.org.

In 2001 The Northwest Council located in Seattle joined the Chopin Foundation’s family. In 2003 the Chopin Festival, open to young talented local students was introduced, and since became the major musical event.
