Our Mission

WHO:

Founded by Mrs. Blanka A. Rosenstiel in 1977, the Chopin Foundation stemmed from the First National Chopin Piano Competition held in Miami in 1975 under the auspices of the American Institute of Polish Culture.

WHAT:

Chopin Foundation assists American young artists by:

1.

mounting for them the National Chopin Piano Competition, the only major music competition open exclusively to American pianists, and sending its winners to Warsaw, Poland (all expenses paid) to enable them participation in the International Chopin Piano Competition, the oldest and most prestigious music competition in the world;

2.

giving young musicians public performance opportunities in series of concerts in Florida and in cooperation with other presenters around the U.S.

3.

providing scholarship assistance to promising piano students;

4. offering young American pianists participation in international exchange programs.

WHY:

Chopin Foundation’s mission is to assist young talented American pianists in their career development and to open for them a chance for international career.

WHEN and WHERE:

1.

Our National Chopin Piano Competition is held in Miami every five years (since 1975) and its winners sent to the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, held always the same year;

2.

Our Annual “Chopin for All” series of free concerts consists of six monthly events presented twice, on Saturdays at the Broward County Main Library and the following Sundays at the Granada Presbyterian Church in Coral Gables;

3.

Within each season members are invited to three membership concerts hosted by the regional branch of the Chopin Foundation, the Florida Chopin Council. Two other regional Councils, in San Francisco and in Seattle, carry on the Chopin Foundation’s mission locally in their respective communities.

Donations to the Chopin Foundation are tax deductible to the extent indicated by law.
