Initiated in 1975 and held in Miami every five years, the National Chopin Piano Competition's rules reflect the regulations and requirements of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland.

The Jury of the Eighth National Chopin Piano Competition of the US: Agustin Anievas, Chair, Gersende de Sabran (France), Mark Malkovich III, Piotr Paleczny (Poland), Robert Sherman, Ruth Slenczynska-Kerr, Juana Zayas (Cuba/USA), and Tian Ying, announced the winners!
The recipients of the prizes of more than $120,000 in cash and concert engagements are:

First Prize: $20,000 cash and automatic acceptance to the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, and a twenty-plus concert tour in the USA and abroad

The five finalists will also receive a paid trip to Warsaw, Poland, this April, to enable them participation in the Preliminary Round of the International Chopin Piano Competition.
Lovely stage celebration sponsored by Bacardi USA followed the awards presentation. Happy Birthday was sung to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Frederic Chopin soon after 6 pm, which made about midnight of March 1st in Warsaw. Perfect timing!
