An Inspired and Auspicious Start
The Chopin Foundation has promoted Chopin’s music and talented young American pianists since 1975, when Blanka A. Rosenstiel convinced a small group of classical music enthusiasts in Miami that a Chopin Piano Competition in the US would be a good idea. As a native of Warsaw, Poland, Lady Blanka’s passion for Chopin’s music and Polish culture has had a significant impact.

Still going strong 50+ years later, the Chopin Foundation continues to see its mission embodied in the young artists who benefit from prizes, scholarships, and performance opportunities.
