Korean-American pianist Sherry Kim is leading a multi-faceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, and private piano teacher. She graduated from Manhattan School of Music, studying under Alexandre Moutouzkine, with a Professional Studies certificate (May 2017) and with a Master of Music degree (May 2016). Previously, she graduated from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree under Alan Chow. Most of her childhood was spent in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she studied with Jie Bu, founder and director of the Nevada Arts Academy.    In addition to her primary teachers, Sherry has worked with top pedagogues at various festivals including Yoheved Kaplinsky, Richard Goode, Jerome Lowenthal, Nelita True, Paul Schenly, John Perry, Anton Nel, and Daniel Shapiro among others. A laureate of many competitions, Sherry is the winner of the Dora Zaslavsky-Koch Concerto Competition at MSM and of the Jefferson Symphony International Young Artist Competition. She was awarded 2nd prize at the VI Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, Connecticut and at the 28th International Chopin Competition in Corpus Christi, Texas. Some of her performances have been at notable venues including Carnegie Hall, Chicago Cultural Center, Liederkranz Hall, The Smith Center, and Kennedy Center.
